Membership and Small Groups FAQ
What is church membership?
Church membership is simply a Christian’s formal commitment to a local church. It is like “defining the relationship” in dating. Sometimes in a dating relationship you might ask, “What are we? Are we boyfriend and girlfriend?,” and your commitment needs to be clarified. Likewise, church membership makes clear your commitment to the church and your expectation of the church’s commitment to you.
Do I need to be a member of Kindred to join a small group?
No. However, you do need to go through Intro Group first before joining a regular small group. For those who came from CCSC (our sending church), you do not need to go through Intro Group to join a regular small group.
What is Intro Group?
Intro Group is a 6-week small group Bible study led by Pastor Daniel for those who are new to Kindred. It serves as an introduction to the church and an opportunity to get to know the pastor and leaders of Kindred better. Intro Group will be offered three times throughout the year.
Do I need to be a member of Kindred to lead a small group?
Yes, amongst some other qualifications.
How do I become a member of Kindred?
To become a member of Kindred, you simply need to go through Intro Group. For those coming from CCSC, there will be a slightly truncated process; please contact Pastor Daniel at daniel@kindredpres.com for more information. This exception will remain until the end of this year, and starting in 2024, anyone who wants to become a member of Kindred will have to complete Intro Group.
Does going through Intro Group automatically make me a member of Kindred?
No. After you complete Intro Group, it is completely up to you if you’d like to become a member of Kindred. Those who would like to become members would then fill out a membership application and make membership vows during our Sunday service.
